Grazing and chewing the cud: it tastes better second time around
The sheep, goats and alpacas on our smallholding are all ruminants. Ruminants eat their food, chew it a little bit, swallow it (where it then travels to the 'rumen') and then sometime later regurgitate it to chew it some more (see the individual Animal sections for full details). Look very carefully at Neptune, one of our alpacas and the lamb at the end and you will see their rumens moving just before they regurgitate!! Don't try this at home!!!
