All the animals seem to have survived a day inside (or in some cases) just outside the barn and we ended the day with the same numbers as we started with!! We kept the poultry in today which they weren't too impressed with but we want them to realise the barn is their main feeding/sleeping area now. Hopefully a couple of days inside will 'imprint' this idea so that when they are allowed outside again (this time into the top paddock), they won't make a mad dash for their old area.
The three pygmy kids now have to share with four sheep (not just two) as due to the turkeys now being inside we have had to put more of the sheep together. It has definitely been a tad traumatic for the kids: first we take their mums away and then we replace them with much bigger but less friendly versions. Feeding time is fine though as the sheep eat from one bowl and the kids from another: all very civilised!!
Elizabeth (third picture) seems to be recovering from her fox attack but we are a little concerned she is not eating much: some spoon feeding may be the order of the day.
And finally the ducks have shown just how fox-proof they can be by flying right up onto the barn roof (a good four metres high). We have a small house on the concrete apron just outside the barn for them to sleep in so that during the day they 'hang around' just outside.
A midnight check confirmed all was well although the sound of the vixen screaming outside our front gate was a little bit eerie it has to be said!!
