Our three pygmy kids are enjoying having time outside again and with only our two gentle ewes left now to share with, are making the most of the space and weather. Nutmeg (first photo) came into season today and announced the fact very loudly for most of the day. To those whose experience of goats is limited, she did rather sound like she was being murdered but we all knew what she was really saying was: "I need a male goat and I need him now." Unfortunately at the tender age of just eight months, she is far too young and so had to be content instead with playing head butting games with Curds, our biggest dairy nanny - there was a fence between them thank goodness!!
Pepper (middle photo) seems to be getting more grown up each day and can often be seen swaggering around and looking very important. With the adults away, he is now top of the pecking order and is thoroughly enjoying his new status. He is as cute as ever though and still comes up for his cuddles at every opportunity.
Garlic (end photo) remains the shyest still (as was her mother before her) but fiercely independent. She has a slight limp at the moment, we think from a knock or some boisterous play but with no obvious signs of injury and a gentle improvement each day we think she will be fine.
We do miss the four adult girls and wonder how the two groups will mix back to together when they return in a couple of weeks!!
