Well, here they are: Neptune and Jupiter safely installed in their new home!! The collection from Devon and delivery to us went like clockwork and by 2.30pm this afternoon they were in their stall munching hay. Jupiter is currently the most nervous but for him today was a very different experience as, unlike Neptune, he has never been off the farm where he was born and so everything was totally new. This was immediately evident in how differently they walked down the ramp from the truck: Neptune trotted quite happily, Jupiter needed a 'little' (or rather a lot) of encouragement!!! Neptune has had the experience of going to a few shows with Karen (his breeder) so he was far calmer about all the new things he was seeing and doing!
Already we have had several visitors and both the boys have shown they are more than happy to eat from people's hands! At tea time when the dairy goats came up from their paddock into their stall we had a lot of staring, ears back, ears forward and general 'who are you' noises and looks. As the photos show the goats are just a little wary and unsure about their new neighbours but we don't think this will last for long!!
The weather is set to be pretty vile for a few days now so we think all the animals will be spending time indoors really getting to know each other: not a bad thing...
Meanwhile, over at the vets, we did not really get any clear answers as to why Parsley keeps showing signs of being in season. The vet does not think there are signs of any cysts and cannot rule out the fact she 'might' be pregnant. We are to wait a month and then get her re-scanned!!!
