Tuesday, 3rd February 2015

Despite the fact the polytunnel is wrecked (see 31st December) we are still able to find the odd vegetable or two to harvest from last year's planting. This oversized parsnip along with the carrots and leeks were made into a fabulous soupy sauce tonight that we served with lamb and roast potatoes. There is also some left over for lunch tomorrow which we are going to have with some freshly baked bread!!! Yum!!
Our plans to find a suitable polytunnel company continue. As explained back on 31st December and also on 21st January, re-covering the frame as it is, does not seem to be an option as it is very likely that the polythene will tear once again as it rubs on the elbows of the frame. One company have said they could fit horizontal bars to take the strain OFF the elbows but they were quoting almost as much as it would cost to build a brand new polytunnel... we will continue to take advice and hope to make a decision in the next couple of weeks.
