A day of gale force winds and bucketloads of rain and so for the goats, NOT a day to go outside. Instead, everyone played 'happy families' as this rather cute picture of Apricot snuggling up to Thyme shows. Thyme definitely wins the award for the most patient pygmy goat mum of the year. In the absence of their upturned dog beds, buckets and picnic bench to jump up and down on, most of the kids chose Thyme instead. We have some great video footage of several kids at once playing 'king (queen) of the castle' using Thyme's back as the castle and all the while she just lay there chewing the cud, not seeming to mind one bit!!!
The relationships amongst the goats continue to develop and grow. We are not seeing any obvious leaders or 'quieter' ones at the moment: it is too early for that really. Sultana and Currant seem to be the most boisterous perhaps and Mushroom the most chilled. Little Raisin is very independent and does not seem to spend so much time with her mum (Nutmeg) as some of the other kids do with theirs.
It is all quite fascinating and yet time is flying by. The kids will be ready to go to their new homes when they are twelve weeks old so already we are over a third of the way through!!! Gulp!!
