Relaxed FarmingHow to look after us... (as answered by one of our Black Leghorns) I am the third of the Leghorn types, the others being Red and White. I am infact one of two - we are fab layers and probably the shyest of all the Leghorns...

  • We love our special pellets and mixed corn: we all free range so often eat grass, minibeasts, seeds, worms etc and even the odd frog (!!) so our diet is fab but we still need some special poultry pellets and in the winter when we don't find as much food for ourselves, the pellets are really important!!

They have all sorts of minerals and vitamins as well as protein and carbohydrates in them so having them as well, means we are definitely getting all the goodness we need to grow well and lay good eggs.

Our afternoon corn is our favourite treat in the whole world and we will follow anyone who is carrying the corm jug. One or two of us even have been known to jump on our owners' shoulders to get to the corn first (how un-ladylike!!). You may have seen the pictures. In the winter the corn is especially great as it keeps us warm but we love it in the summer too!!
