Relaxed FarmingHow to look after us... (as answered by Gorge). Yes I am the pretty one but I don't show off about it... We really are not that difficult to look after. We don't make too many demands and we are NOWHERE near as daft as sheep...

  • We need our hooves trimming: in the wild our hooves get worn down on the rocks we scramble around on but if we are kept in a field with no rocks, our owners have to cut them. This is NOT our favourite thing but as our hooves grow all the time (just like your finger and toe nails) if they were not cut they would get too long, break or curl and this would make it difficult for us to walk.

Split or broken hooves can also get 'muck' stuck in them which if it carries nasty bacteria could infect our whole foot. My mum Curds did not have her claws cut at all for the first year or so of her life and she now has quite bent feet which has led to her getting a bit of arthritis in her knees.

Every now and again our owners give her some pain relief if it gets too bad!! She's no cripple though - have you seen the picture of her pretending to be a bucking rodeo bull? Sooo embarrassing...

Climbing like this will wear down our hooves a little but they will still need a bit of a trim
