Relaxed FarmingWhy keep sheep... (as answered by Mrs White). Sheep and smallholdings go together like... chips and tomato ketchup, kids and their mobile phones, lamb and mint sauce (whoops, should I have said that?). And why? Smallholdings have grass and we LOVE grass.

  • We don't need much additional feeding: a lot of animals on farms and smallholdings need special food given to them in the form of pellets or mixes. We, on the other hand, can pretty much live off grass all year which makes us MUCH cheaper to keep. And if the grass runs out (or the land gets so wet we cannot go out on it) we are happy with hay, (hay is simply dried grass).

We also are very happy to munch on willow and beech leaves which we get occasionally living here when our owners (or their neighbours) cut back their trees.

There are times when a few tasty sheep pellets are welcomed, maybe in the winter or when we are pregnant but even then we won't eat many (not like those greedy goats).

Fresh hay is always appreciated...
