Relaxed FarmingFascinating Facts (as explored by Parsley). We have a lot in common with dairy goats, we are basically the same animal, just a lot smaller (and cuter, and better behaved... well Curds may disagree with me here...)

  • Pygmy goats (or dwarf goats) come from Africa: they were first imported to zoos in Sweden and Germany in the 1950s and then to America and the rest of Europe (not sure I would like to have been on one of those first boats...).

They were (and still are) used for both milk and meat in Africa.

There were originally two sorts: one was simply a smaller version of the bigger (dairy) goats whilst the other had shorter legs compared to its body (which was plumper).

On the Relaxed smallholding we are all more the 'shorter legs, plump body' type and some humans think we are pregnant even when we are not - which we find very rude!!!!
