Relaxed FarmingHow to look after us... (as answered by Sage). We really don't take a huge amount of looking after but as with most animals the more time and attention we get, the happier we are

  • Give us room for a bit of a run: Read more

  • Provide a comfy shed or barn: Read more

  • We do love our treats: Read more

  • Please look after our hooves: the outside of our hooves (the nail bit) grow all the time just like your finger and toe nails. Here at the Relaxed smallholding, we have a big concrete apron outside our barn which helps to keep our hooves in trim but they still need checking and occasionally trimming so that they don't get too long and start to split.

We agree with the dairies that this is not our favourite thing but a bit like when you go to the dentist, we realise it has to be done.

As we have such lovely small feet, it does not take long and then we get the joys of the 'purple spray'. This is an antiseptic spray used on our feet after the hoof trimming just to make sure no nasty bugs get in there and cause problems. The hilarious bit is when we then scratch ourselves afterwards and so get purple marks on our bellies and ears!!!
