Relaxed Farming Our offspring... (as told by Onion). Okay, let it be officially known that pygmy goat kids are the most adorable, most scrumptious baby animals that exist - we have seen grown men (and women) go totally slushy when they get the chance to cuddle a one-day old kid. Aaaaaahhh!!

  • Enter the pygmy billy: each autumn a new pygmy billy is required to become the daddy for the next set of kids. Some years we have a billy here on the Relaxed smallholding (Milo lived here and fathered our 2012 and 2013 kids) and other years us adult girls go to stay with the billy on another farm/smallholding.

Just like the dairies we have our 'seasons' which is when we are ready to be mated with but UNLIKE the dairy goats, we can have these all year round. Most owners allow us to mate with the billy just in the autumn though and that way we end up with spring kids!! (as we are pregnant for around five months).

Our seasons are just like the dairies: we scream, we wag our tails and we get a damp back end. Some of us are quieter than others. Last year Nutmeg was SO loud and she was too young to be mated with anyway. Little madam!!
