Crumpet and Waffle's kittens day by day: March - April 2015
Day Six: 20th March: More fur, bigger ears, more wriggly.... and those eyes are looking so close to opening. Notice how one kitten senses (hears and smells) mum and heads out of the nest towards her. The kitten who then wriggles underneath her is after milk, which it has to drink by lying on its back and then reaching up for one of mum's teats. Notice its back legs sticking out. This one has a nice long drink!! Sadly another dead kitten today. We have a badger in the garden at night and we wonder if he frightens Crumpet as she is feeding her young such that she is startled from the nest with babies still attached (that then fall off elsewhere). Her nest is close to the door (her choice)!!! |
